How Much Does Custom Software Cost? Prices for MVPs, Apps and Platforms

Camsol··3 min read

Custom software usually costs between 10,000 and 120,000 euros. A small MVP (a first usable version) sits at the low end, a mobile app at the high end. Larger platforms start at around 100,000 euros.

Here are our guide prices, and what moves them up or down.

What software development costs: guide prices

ServiceDurationPrice range (net)
Concept phase1 to 2 weeks€3,000 to €10,000
Small AI solution or small MVP4 to 6 weeks€10,000 to €30,000
Web application as an MVP8 to 12 weeks€30,000 to €80,000
Mobile app (iOS and Android)8 to 16 weeks€40,000 to €120,000
Larger platformfrom 4 monthsfrom €100,000

These are guide prices for 2026, not an offer. Your project sets the exact price.

What an app costs

An app for iOS and Android usually costs 40,000 to 120,000 euros with us. That often makes it more expensive than a web application, for several reasons:

  • The app almost always needs a backend too, the part that runs on the server.
  • It has to pass the Apple and Google reviews.
  • It has to work on many devices, so testing takes longer.

With React Native or Flutter, one codebase covers both platforms. That saves money. Still, ask yourself first: do your users really need an app? A web application that runs well on a phone is often enough.

What drives the price most

  1. Scope. Every further process and user role takes time.
  2. Integrations. Connecting to an ERP or other older systems is often the hardest part.
  3. Existing data. Data from old systems has to be checked and cleaned first.
  4. Security and regulation. Health data or financial rules need more checks and evidence.
  5. Design. A custom design system costs more than ready-made components.

What comes after launch

Software keeps costing money after launch. Plan for roughly 15 to 20% of the build cost per year. On a 50,000 euro project, that is 7,500 to 10,000 euros a year.

The money goes into hosting, updates, security and small changes. Saving here often costs more later. Our article on the tech debt trap explains why.

How to lower the cost

  • Start small. Build one process first. Let the rest follow what users really need.
  • Agree the scope first. A concept phase costs little compared with building the wrong product.
  • Use ready-made parts. You do not need to build login, payments or a CMS yourself.
  • Check standard software. For tasks like accounting, a finished product is usually enough. Custom software pays off where your process sets you apart from competitors.

Why offers differ so much

Two offers for the same project can differ by a factor of two. Often the vendors have simply included different things. So ask each vendor the same questions:

  1. What exactly is included, and what is not?
  2. Are tests, documentation and deployment part of it?
  3. Do you own the code at the end?
  4. What does running the software cost after launch?
  5. How are changes during the project charged?

How we work

We start with a free intro call. Most projects then begin with a concept phase of one to two weeks. An MVP usually ships within 8 to 12 weeks, and you see a running version every two weeks. You own the code at the end.
