AI Content Platform for Serial Entertainment

The Challenge

Producing serial entertainment is expensive. An audio drama with several voices goes through script, casting, studio recording, editing and sign-off - weeks of work per episode. For formats with a high release cadence, that only pays off at significant reach.

Our client, a startup in stealth phase, wanted to move this process into a platform: B2B customers configure story parameters - characters, plot structure, setting, tone - and receive finished episodes in three formats. Audiobook with a single narrator, audio drama with multi-voice dialogue, and e-reader prose for reading.

The decisive requirement was not speed alone. Generated content without editorial control is unusable for paying customers. Quality assurance had to be a fixed part of the pipeline, not a step bolted on afterwards.

Our Approach

We built the platform as multi-tenant SaaS, structured around a reviewable pipeline with two fixed control points.

Human-in-the-loop as an architectural principle. The AI writes the text, reviewers check and approve. Only then does the AI generate the multi-voice audio, which is reviewed again before the episode appears in the consumer app. The episode workflow is modelled as an explicit state machine - every transition is traceable, and an aborted review blocks publication.

Asynchronous generation. Text and audio production run as background jobs. This decouples the user interface from model runs that can take minutes, and makes retries after failures uncritical.

Multiple TTS providers in parallel. Voices come from different systems depending on role and language. The abstraction layer allows individual voices to be swapped without touching the pipeline.

Tenant separation at the database layer. Row-level security ensures a customer only ever sees their own material, characters and episodes - even if a query in the application layer is faulty.

The Results

An idea has become a production-ready content factory. Episodes that previously took weeks now take hours - including both review stages that safeguard the quality standard.

The real leverage lies in repeatability. Once a series is configured, the platform produces episode after episode in the same tone, with the same voices and the same narrative register. That was simply not achievable at this cadence with classical production.
