Headphones on, fingers flying across the keyboard, and a calm smile hinting at the corners of her mouth – that’s a typical afternoon for Jua Yuoh at Camsol Services. In a world of frantic tech startups and noisy breakthroughs, Jua stands out by moving at her own steady rhythm, letting her work speak louder than any hype. She’s the kind of developer who doesn’t need to shout about her success; her quietly brilliant code does it for her.

From Intern to Invaluable Developer

When Jua first arrived at Camsol as a fresh intern, she was eager to prove herself. She quickly learned the ropes, absorbing everything from code reviews to client requirements with an almost serene focus. It wasn’t long before her potential became evident. Within a few months, Jua had moved from being “the new intern” to an indispensable full-time frontend developer. It’s a journey she earned through hard work and a knack for solving problems one elegant solution at a time.

Now nearly two years on, Jua is a trusted member of the Camsol Services development team. Every day, she acts as a bridge between imaginative design concepts and real-world user experience. She writes the code that brings ideas to life on screen, making sure each button, form, and animation feels just right. Colleagues know they can count on Jua to implement responsive, user-friendly interfaces – the kind that make even complex web applications feel simple. And she does it all with a calm efficiency that has become something of her trademark.

Frontend Prowess

Jua’s calm competence shines brightest on one of Camsol’s flagship projects: ai-gelb.de. This platform of AI-powered assistants – from translation bots to project management guides – needed an intuitive interface that could welcome any user. Jua was key in shaping that front-end experience. She approached the challenge as she does any other: with focus, precision, and an eye for the end user. The result? A sleek, approachable chat interface that hides a world of complexity behind friendly prompts and easy-to-click buttons.

To achieve this, Jua drew on a powerful arsenal of front-end tools, including TypeScript and Tailwind CSS to bring logic to life in the browser and to build dynamic, interactive user interfaces.

With these, she turned ai-gelb’s requirements into reality. If you’ve ever marveled at how smooth the site feels or how seamlessly it responds, you’ve quietly appreciated Jua’s work. Her code ensures that interacting with an AI assistant on the platform is as simple as chatting with a colleague – no confusion, no clutter, just a clean experience that lets the technology shine.

Worth noting is that Jua Yuoh was selected for an Outreachy internship, which is a global open-source programme offering three-month paid, remote internships to people from groups traditionally underrepresented in tech. Being chosen from a competitive pool of international applicants (often 10 or more vying for each project) is a prestigious achievement that highlights her talent and dedication. During her May–August 2024 internship with ODK-X (an open-source data management tool for collecting and using data in resource-constrained environments), Jua worked as a front-end developer and enhanced the user interface and user experience of the ODK-X application. She implemented design guidelines to ensure the app’s design remained consistent and user-friendly, writing clean front-end code and improving the software’s overall usability. This experience not only benefited the ODK-X community by making the tool easier to use, but also helped Jua deepen her front-end development skills. She gained hands-on experience in UI/UX design and learned to apply industry-standard best practices in coding through this real-world open-source project.

Calm, Focused, and Curious

What’s the secret behind Jua’s steady productivity? Give her a stable internet connection and a good playlist, and watch her thrive. Once those headphones go on, she slips into “the zone” – that state of deep concentration where bugs tremble and features come to life. Her calm under pressure has been a boon on tight deadlines; rather than panic, Jua methodically works through issues with a level head and a hint of a smile.

Beyond her technical prowess, Jua is always learning. In fact, she recently completed a graduate degree while working full-time – a testament to her curiosity and drive. She’s equally at home picking up a new JavaScript library as she is studying project management strategies. This blend of technical and organisational know-how means she not only writes code, but also understands how projects tick from a broader perspective.

Jua also draws inspiration from those who’ve walked the path before her. She counts Tobias Braun as a professional hero who exemplifies clear vision and effective leadership in tech. On a personal level, she looks up to Cameroonian tech trailblazers like Selma Ndi and Rebecca Enonchong – figures whose success and advocacy inspire Jua to keep pushing her own boundaries. Knowing that her idols have achieved big things, she stays motivated to make her own impact, one line of code at a time.

Besides Code, She Swims

When she’s not crafting software solutions, Jua knows how to unwind and recharge. She loves nothing more than a good swim – cutting through water as calmly as she navigates a sea of code. If she’s not at the pool, you might find her with a crochet hook in hand, patiently turning colourful yarn into intricate patterns (a hobby that, much like her coding, mixes creativity with precision). And whenever the weekend allows, Jua is drawn to the seaside. With the ocean breeze, some good music playing, and maybe a sunset to admire, she can truly relax.

Of course, no beach-side relaxation is complete without a taste of home. Ask Jua about her favourite meal and her eyes light up: corn fufu and khati khati. This hearty Cameroonian dish – think smooth corn porridge paired with leafy greens and savoury grilled chicken – is her ultimate comfort food. It’s a well-earned treat after a week of hard work, and she jokes that it’s the fuel behind some of her best ideas.

In the end, Jua Yuoh is a portrait of balance: calm but never complacent, technically sharp yet always willing to learn, professional at work and vibrant in life. Picture her at a beachside café after a day of elegant coding – headphones around her neck, and a content, calm smile on her face as the sun sets. That image says it all: a developer whose quiet passion, sharp code, and enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures make her truly unforgettable.
