In a bustling tech workspace, Issabel Nwoteh is often the calmest presence in the room. She’s the UX/UI designer who lets her work do the talking – and it speaks volumes. Quiet yet confident, Issabel has a knack for turning complex problems into elegant, user-friendly designs. With a coffee mug in hand and soft music in her headphones, she crafts digital experiences that are as intuitive as they are impactful. Don’t be fooled by her gentle manner; this Camsol Services team member is a creative powerhouse hiding in plain sight.

Designing Solutions at Camsol Services

As a UX designer at Camsol Services, Issabel is all about user-centric solutions. Since joining the company in its early beginnings in August 2022, she has been designing user flows and interactive prototypes in Figma, bringing real-world applications to life. Her day-to-day work involves creating mood boards, wireframes, and branding elements aligned with each project’s goals, all while upholding a high standard of professionalism. Collaboration is second nature to her – she works closely with colleagues to identify any design blockers and deliver solutions that truly centre on the end-user’s needs. Crucially, Issabel applies atomic design principles to her projects, ensuring that even the tiniest components fit into a consistent, scalable whole. This meticulous approach means that whether she’s styling a button or overhauling an entire interface, the result is cohesive and easy to expand.

Issabel’s impact at Camsol has been tangible. In a previous role within the Camsol family, she devised intuitive interfaces that ended up boosting a client’s revenue by 15%. It’s not every day that design work yields such clear business results, and her team still remembers how a few thoughtful UX improvements translated into happier users – and higher sales. Issabel herself prefers not to boast; she’s quick to credit teamwork and good design fundamentals for that success. Still, there’s no denying the value she brings. Her designs don’t just look good – they achieve real outcomes.

Refactoring Brands

Most recently, Issabel has poured her creativity into BonFry, one of Camsol’s client projects. BonFry, a startup devoted to sustainable cooking-oil recycling, charged Camsol Services with refactoring its brand identity and digital presence. Issabel eagerly took on the challenge. She led the effort to give BonFry a fresh new look that mirrors its climate-conscious mission. This meant rethinking everything from the company’s colour palette and logo usage to the layout and accessibility of its website. Drawing on her strengths in user research, prototyping, and visual design, Issabel crafted a clean, modern interface for BonFry’s digital platform. She made sure the design wasn’t just aesthetically pleasing, but also usable: every page is structured for clarity, and interactive elements are tested to be accessible to all users. The result is a rejuvenated BonFry brand that feels professional yet warm – a brand now instantly recognisable and easy to trust.

Issabel found the BonFry project especially rewarding. It allowed her to flex the full range of her UI/UX skills, from conducting stakeholder interviews and user surveys at the start, to building high-fidelity prototypes of the new site. In typical fashion, she kept things systematic. Borrowing from atomic design, she created a style guide of reusable components for BonFry, so the brand’s new identity remains consistent everywhere it appears. Whether it’s a button on the app or a banner on their social media, you can thank Issabel’s keen eye for detail and consistency. And of course, she did all this while meeting tight deadlines – calmly proving that great design and great organisation go hand in hand.

Journey and Inspirations

Long before she was refactoring brands and streamlining user experiences, Issabel was breaking ground in her own life. She hails from the Northwest Region of Cameroon, and in 2023 she became part of the first generation members in her family to earn a degree in software engineering. Graduating with a BSc from ICT University in Yaoundé was a proud milestone – one that wasn’t just a personal achievement, but a beacon for her younger siblings and community. It showed that with hard work (and a touch of curiosity), this introverted girl from Bamenda could grow into a skilled tech professional.

Despite her accomplishments, Issabel remains humble and hungry to learn. She often cites Camsol’s co-founder Tobias Braun as a major professional inspiration. Tobias’s visionary leadership and emphasis on socially responsible tech resonate with Issabel’s own values. His dedication to empowering underrepresented talent (a core mission at Camsol) makes her feel right at home and pushes her to keep improving. On a more personal level, Issabel is inspired by Bijou Murielskinder – someone she describes as a guiding light in her life: they’ve instilled in Issabel a strong sense of integrity and kindness that she carries into every project.

Life Beyond Design

When she’s not busy crafting interfaces, Issabel has a playful side that shines through. She relaxes by cracking puzzles and challenging friends to board games. (If there’s a Camsol game night, you definitely want Issabel on your team – her knack for strategy might come from the same part of her brain that excels at UX problem-solving.) A self-confessed sci-fi geek, she loves unwinding with science fiction movies that spark her imagination. It’s not unusual for her to draw a dash of inspiration from those futuristic worlds into her designs. And for someone so soft-spoken at work, Issabel is surprisingly fearless at karaoke. Give her a microphone on a Friday night and she’ll belt out a classic tune with a smile – no shyness, just pure enjoyment.

Through it all, Issabel stays deeply connected to her Cameroonian roots. She grew up enjoying the simple comforts of home, and one of her favourite dishes is a plate of white yams with okong obong – a savoury pumpkin-leaf stew beloved in Cameroon. No fancy fusion cuisine can quite replace that hearty meal for her. It’s soul food, reminding her of family gatherings and the rich culture of the Northwest.
